An infrastructure bug found in 54% of Ethereum nodes has been causing the nodes to fork from the network. The scope of this issue is still being investigated and has raised concerns of double-spending attacks. More: - The bug has been identified as affecting older versions of Geth clients (v1.10.7 and earlier); a Go implementation of an Ethereum client used to connect nodes with the Ethereum network.
- Geth clients make up nearly 75% of all clients on the Ethereum Mainnet. Over 70% of all Geth clients are currently running on Geth v1.10.7 and earlier.
- Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible chains, including Binance Smart Chain (BNB) and Polygon (MATIC), are also impacted.

Ringers #879 sold for a record 1,800 ETH (~$5.8M) on NFT marketplace OpenSea. The NFT was purchased by Singapore-based crypto investment firm Three Arrows Capital. More: - Ringers #879 was created by artist Dmitri Cherniak and minted on Art Blocks back in February.
- The purchase by Three Arrows was the largest on Art Blocks, surpassing the previous record of 100 ETH (~$2.6M).
- Three Arrows has been actively purchasing NFTs from Art Blocks. Last year, the firm bought at least 10 NFTs from the Tyler Hobbs Fidenza collection for around 320 ETH (~$1M) apiece.

Multi-chain smart contract platform Moonriver launched on Kusama (KSM). The launch of Moonriver enables interoperability of Ethereum-compatible smart contracts and DApps on Kusama. More: - Moonriver is the sister network of Moonbeam, an Ethereum-compatible smart contract platform for the Polkadot (DOT) ecosystem.
- Moonbeam is still under development and is expected to launch on the Polkadot mainnet sometime this year.
- Following the launch, Moonriver’s native token MOVR is now freely transferable and available for network participants.

The Cuban government announced that it would recognize and regulate bitcoin. The extent of regulations and what regulations mean for the future of cryptocurrencies in Cuba have not been revealed. More: - The central bank stated it has the power to authorize the use of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for the socio-economic interests of Cuba.
- The resolution will provide checks for banks to prevent "illegal" crypto transactions.
- Enacting regulations may signal the Cuban government’s awareness that citizens use bitcoin to circumvent U.S. embargo restrictions.
